A Poem on Sisterhood

We started our lives sharing the same roots.

We carried on, sharing the same trunk.

We grew in different directions

and never looked the same.

Our leaves are the color green,

but each one is unique.

We bore fruits that are similar,

but each tastes a little different.

We are but the branches of the tree.

We are the siblings of the same family.

Our purpose may have been the same,

but each one had his very own dreams.

Our goals may have been similar,

but our paths lead us elsewhere.

There is pain of separateness

that I need to let go of.

There is a lesson to learn -

to accept our differences.
